Cesca Janece Waterfield
When Waterfield contributed three poems and a memoir excerpt for publication to the Ghent Reader, She has this to say about her self: "I won my first prize for writing in the fifth grade, a county-wide essay on the wickedness of littering, which I submitted by slipping under the courthouse door two hours past deadline. It was very pious and was printed in the newspaper. Tom Robbins grew up in my dinky town, strolled the same school hallways, and was my uncle for several years. These facts make me feel something, though I'm not sure what. Previously published in Blue Collar Review, Powhatan Review, and collegiate literary journals when I was a student in Boston, I am a singer and a songwriter - honest!"
Since then, Waterfield was accepted into Virginia Commonwealth University's MFA program. When she first moved to Richmond, she moved in with a roomate, the now infamous Ben Fawley, in devil's clothes, who eventually confessed to killing Taylor Marie Behl, a young woman who coincidently had also just moved to Richmond to start her life as a college student. Waterfield wrote about the experience for Style Weekly in Richmond and continues to write as a freelance reporter for several publications.
Waterfield also sits on the Ghent Reader's Board of Editors.
