Pete Freas, our local poetry activist, shares his list of poetry happenings in Hampton Roads. His list starts with the Chesapeake Poetry Festival starting this Wednesday, March 18.

From Pete Freas:

It’s starting piled up with events. The Muse has prepared 2 new class offerings for April: Intro to Fiction Writing, and Meditation for writers. Check it out at www.the-muse.org/workshops.html.

This week the Chesapeake Poetry Festival with readings by guest poets Tim Seibles, Jon Pineda, and Dorianne Laux, Friday evening at the Russell Memorial Library on Taylor Road in Western Branch (just behind Chesapeake Square Mall and Sam’s Club/Walmart. Check it out.

Next week comes the 28th Annual CNU Writer’s Conference. This just keeps getting better and better every year. Don’t miss it.

Re: the Night of Sharing Poetry at the ODU HEC in Virginia Beach, mark your calendar. And DON’T MISS THE DEADLINE for submitting a poem or two to read there and see it published in the chapbook to be distributed at the event April 7.

Note to mark your calendar for Thursday May 7 for a huge reception at the VB Pavillion for an Art Exhibition hosted by the Hampton Roads Digital Shutterbugs. Several of the pieces on display have been augmented by poems excerpted from various editions of Skipping Stones. Mark your calendar and see if you have graced a spectacular digital photo on display. Watch for more on this as May approaches.

The link to the calendar on the ChesBayPoets website remains www.chesbaypoets.org/Calendar.html. Check it out. For more information on any particular event, click on the blue print for a link to information or the event itself.

Albeit slowly, we are making progress on Skipping Stones 08-09, look for late May release.

Hoo ahhhhhhh
