Cloudy sky in June | By Per Ola Wiberg

2 June

The trees whose name I do not know
are bearing pods of seeds to float
into the summer though the Solstice waits
three weeks off yet near as warmth.

A heron perched near balustrade of Hague
returns my stare and then takes flight.
The Ghent pedestrians pay no mind
to the helicopters cruising over the river.

To come inside to cooler air
seems so contrary to the spirit of season,
but choir practice goes without regard to June
or most any other earthly reason.

When we emerged from practice
full moon was waiting as I knew she would.
The soft lit night is even better than a day in June.
